Professor Keogh, a member of the Royal Irish Academy, is Emeritus Professor of History, University College Cork and Visiting Professor, University of Montana at Missoula. A distinguished and renowned international scholar and lecturer, he is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles---and also a past ILHS speaker and a contributor to the ILHS publication, The Irish in the San Francisco Bay Area: Essays on Good Fortune. His biography of Jack Lynch, who was Taoiseach between 1966-1973 and 1977-1979, was published in 2008. He will speak to us about how Lynch handled a grave political crisis in 1969 and discuss his relevance for the contemporary electoral debate in Ireland.
